Normally, when I feel the need to vent about something I
wait out a day or two, sometimes three, and then write it. By that time I’m
calm and toned down. Having watched presidential debates, I’ll deviate from the
everyday geek talk and just go with it.
Now that I’ve watched all three rounds of TV debates I
understand and appreciate John Kerry much better. There’s always skewing of
facts and harping on own strong points and the opponent’s weak points, so you
have to write that off.
I think during every round Kerry was much more focused and
talked a practical talk outlining solutions. For the most part, Bush was on the
defensive wasting his 90 seconds on badmouthing Kerry and not answering
questions. Kerry clearly
won the debates 3-to-nothing and showed he knew his stuff.
I don’t really care how many times Kerry voted for or
against a certain resolution. Given particular circumstances he must’ve done
the right thing voting against something that appeared to be a noble cause on
the surface, but had a lousy implementation or strategy. If they are going to spend
my tax money, I’d like someone to make sure that money is spent well.
It’s Time For Bush To Go
Back in 2000 the elections boiled down to choosing a lesser
asshole. I can’t even imagine what it would’ve been like to live under Gore
(who invented the internet, according to himself). So we’ve had 4 years of
utmost presidential mediocrity, which was further aggravated by a tragedy.
Four years ago we had better health insurance coverages,
higher pay, a lot more jobs, gas was much more affordable. This president took
a darn good economy and ran it down the toilet. What about the 1.9 million of
gained jobs Bush cites all the time? It’s a statistics for people with half of
their brain dead. How many jobs have been lost or moved overseas?
Benefits for small business? The software business is dead
compared to that of 4 years ago. Companies are not in a spending mood nearly as much.
A child tax
cut? Yes, I remember it. But how much more money are we spending on other taxes
and insurances? Hosts of people have been pushed below the line of poverty with
this president.
Three quarters of terrorists brought to justice? This is
another piece of stats for people with the other half of brain dead as well.
“Al-Qaeda” is not a golf club. It’s a movement fueled by a lot of different
things. Understand this: there’s no shortage of members in that club. As long
as US troops are in their backyard (which was a gift to them) there sure as
hell won’t be shortage. Bush got caught up in happy talk.
Bush took international admiration and trust and ran it down
the toilet. What’s the perception of America in the world right now? It’s well
known in retrospect that the whole war in Iraq was a hoax with more fun targets
to bomb. Wrong target, wrong reasons. Bush will drop dead pounding himself in
the chest saying the decision was right. It’s called stubbornness, which is blind to reason. For that matter, Russia
is a bigger threat with their technology, research, wealth, weapons, ideology,
defense programs, strong education. Mr. Bush, would you dare?
Why waste billions of our tax dollars on a wrong war? Take a
train across Long Island—you’ll see some neighborhoods that look like they
were bombed. It’s them who need reconstruction money.
During the third round of debates there was a good question
about immigration. It’s a painful topic for me, because under Bush it has
become a bigger hassle to receive a visa. It’s almost not worth it anymore. The
agencies seem to work in complete disarray. Funny enough, legit visitors are
given a hard time, while anyone willing may cross the border across the
southern states. Go figure.
Vote Kerry
Being an illegitimately elected president, Bush has done a
pathetic job, and should you re-elect him you’ll have four more years of the
same mediocrity. Enough of this depression.
I don’t know how Kerry will perform, but Kerry has a fair
shot at fixing the mess. The best shot available. Give it to him.
I really wish I could cast my vote. I’d cast it for the hope
of improvement—for Kerry.
