More Workflow Goodies

I’m keeping my eyes wide open for examples of Windows Workflow Foundation uses in ASP.NET. Back in November they ran a webcast, Using Workflow in Web Applications (Level 200), and it took me only a month to realize that I could download it recorded. Am I fast or what?

What confused me was the whole sign–up–and–register process just to download a webcast. Here’s how you get it:

  1. Head to the download page for this webcast.
  2. Click View This On-Demand Webcast.
  3. Sign in with your Passport account.
  4. Enter your name and click Confirm.
  5. Click on the bitmap below View.
  6. Enter your email and company name and click View Recording.
  7. Click the link that says, Click to download Live Meeting Replay for offline viewing.

Ta-da! You’re a lucky owner of the coveted Windows Media file. That was easy, wasn’t it? Especially going through all the 3rd party services who want to send you an email here, a confirmation there, and then follow up about the overall experience. Uuummm… where’s the “Very screwed up” checkbox?

Anyway, back to WWF. The webcast is quite interesting, although a bit dry. Creating a rather simple workflow sure seemed a lot more convoluted than in the early look article. I hope it gets simpler in the future.

In the meantime take a look at a recent MSDN article Creating a Custom Composite Activity by Morgan Skinner.

It's a frustrating experience. I download a few webcasts every month to watch and I'm always amazed how many times forms I have to fill out.

Cant download ms webcast since jan. 07. It happened 2 years ago same deal server is so slow it drops connection while donloading. They are not servicing there own servers or they put in backup junk. Not all of us have access to high speed. Have to download webcast for offline viewing.
