Bringing Design to Software: A Must-Read for Computer Professionals

By way of Dreaming in Code (hat tip to Joe), I stumbled upon the Software Design Manifesto by Mitch Kapor, the legendary founder of Lotus and the designer of all-time famous Lotus 1-2-3. This “manifesto” was first delivered in 1990, but it is as valid today as ever. Read this blog post

Better Usability with Silverlight? Yeah, right!

My ears are still ringing from all the announcements of the shipped Silverlight beta, and I’m already seeing funny ideas floating around. The most dangerous one, in my opinion, is that Silverlight will be such a great boon to usability. Really? Read this blog post

Book Review: Co-Opetition

This book is about interesting approaches of combining competition and cooperation to arrive at something beyond the traditional text-book theory of competition. The premise is based on the Game Theory which, I admit, I never heard about prior to this. Theories tend to gain academic following, whose devotees publish research papers targeted at similar-minded associates. Not so with this book. It is written in plain English. Read this blog post
